Play videos using URLs
YTV Player is a free multimedia app by developer Prod ADP. This mobile app is a video player that lets you paste any video link you have and watch it. The idea behind the app is to play videos using URLs without opening a browser of the app. It’s one of many apps in the market that do the same thing.
YTV Player works almost the same as apps such as Url Video Player and MixFlix Player, although the latter lets you download videos. It’s designed to be convenient as you would only need a URL to watch videos.
How does it work?
YTV Player allows you to watch any video you find online by copying its URL and saving it into the app. For instance, you can play a video from Facebook or Reddit via a URL a friend sent to you. Instead of watching it on the browser or the corresponding app, you can save it on this app and use the built-in player to watch it.
Why not just click on the link when it would take you straight to the video? Most of the time that's what many users will do as it’s the most convenient. However, some videos can only be watched after registering for an account on the website it’s published or installing the dedicated application. This app would let you bypass those requirements.
The app is lightweight and would fill a niche but otherwise nifty function among the many apps in the market, but it’s riddled with so many problems. It will frequently fail to load the URL you pasted so you’ll get stuck staring at a black screen. Other times, the app would require you to install the YouTube app to play a video, which kind of defeats its purpose.
Is it worth using?
No. YTV Player’s function is already nice, to begin with, and with how dysfunctional it is, it completely loses its value. In the time you would spend waiting for it to load a video, you would’ve been better off just going to the website or installing the application. It needs a lot of fixes before it can even be considered worth using.
